Many scientific studies have found meditation to be potent for treating anxiety. One study, a meta-analysis published in the Psychological Bulletin, combined the findings of 163 different studies. The overall conclusion was that practicing mindfulness or meditation produced beneficial results, with a substantial improvement in areas like negative personality traits, anxiety, and stress. Results were strongest (medium to large) for changes in emotionality and relationship issues, less strong (about medium) for measures of attention, and weakest (small to medium) for more cognitive measures. This meditation takes you from Alpha (7.5-14Hz) – The Deep Relaxation Wave to Theta (4-7.5Hz) – The Light Meditation And Sleeping Wave then Delta (0.5-4Hz) – The Deep Sleep Wave and back to Alpha on wake up.
Alpha brain waves are present in deep relaxation and usually when the eyes are closed, when you’re slipping into a lovely daydream or during light meditation. It is an optimal time to program the mind for success and it also heightens your imagination, visualization, memory, learning and concentration. Theta brain waves are present during deep meditation and light sleep, including the all-important REM dream state.
