Stroke Recovery Meditation

Regular price $24.95

Stroke Rehabilitation is a meditation designed to rebuild the neural network of the brain after a stroke.

Mental Practice/Mental Imagery

Strokes are the No. 1 cause of disability — and the No. 3 cause of death — in the United States.

Many studies have shown to be effective in promoting recovery of both arm and leg function after a stroke. [1] It is often used by physical or occupational therapists in the rehab or homehealth setting, but can also be used as part of a patient's independent home exercise program. This Stroke Rehabilitation meditation is Mental Movement Therapy. it is one method available for assisting you to rehabilitate with guided mental imagery.

Previous reports of success with hypnosis applied to stroke patients led several doctors from Harvard University in 2006 to hypothesize that hypnotic procedures would help overcome learner nonuse, thought to contribute to impaired motor function. [2]

The function of this mediation is to sprout new synaptic connections within the brain. It is best used repeatedly as soon as possible after the stroke has occurred. This meditation is designed to help the brain fix itself.

The promise of hypnosis

Studies using brain-imaging technology, such as fMRI, PET and EEE, have shown that the experience of chronic pain involves multiple brain areas. As Northwestern University neuroscientist Apkar Vania Apkarian, PhD, wrote in Pain Management in 2011, while acute pain generally activates the somatosensory, insular and cingulate cortical regions, chronic pain primarily activates the prefrontal cortex and limbic systems, areas related to emotion and self-reflection. Also, different types of pain activate different patterns of activity.

"Hypnosis is one of the most promising things we can offer to retrain the brain's pain response," says Patterson. [3]

Now this meditation is available directly:

After you have purchased the meditation it will be available for instant download. We recommend using headphones and listening to the meditation for at least 3 days in a row. Put it on anytime during the day when your sense of hopelessness requires mitigation. Ideally, do it at the same time and in the same place everyday for three days minimum. Then use the meditation whenever you require ease and relief.

Choose a place where you feel comfortable and safe. It is important to build up a habit, a rhythm of use, once you have built this muscle, merely remembering or looking forward to your private session will begin to mitigate your pain.

Your personal guide

Your guide on this journey is Michael Glock Ph.D., the author of MyDestinyOS

A book that proposes a Kennedy Style Moonshot on the Self! MyDestinyOS fuses four components—Jungian Philosophy, Apache Wisdom, Journaling & Descartes’ Scientific Method together in order for a person to leave their own “dark ages” & reach toward a personal renaissance.

In mid 2007 Dr Glock suffered from a Cerebrovascular accident (CVA). The medical term for a stroke. A stroke is when blood flow to a part of your brain is stopped either by a blockage or the rupture of a blood vessel.

Dr Glock made this recording to support his own recovery – he had lost the function of his right leg, arm, hands, fingers and face. The road to recovery was harrowing, but ultimately 100% successful. He listened to his own recording everyday for 3 months. Amongst many other components including rigorous physical therapy on all affected parts of the body and Yoga. He recovered the full use of his hands and the ability to type again. He still walks with a limp.

If you have found this meditation useful consider reading the book, (release date January 2017) and doing the work outlined in the companion workbook. (Release date scheduled for February 2017) His work on the Self, his Futuristics methodologies for both the public and private sector as well as his application for personal destiny planning has shown to be inspirational and life changing for many people.

WHAT IS THE SCIENCE BEHIND THIS MEDITATION?

The brain operates on different frequencies. We operate with five (Beta, Alpha, Theta, Delta and Gamma), major frequencies and each frequency is measured in cycles per second (Hz) and has its own set of characteristics representing a specific level of brain activity and a unique state of consciousness?

This meditation takes you from  Alpha (7.5-14Hz) – The Deep Relaxation Wave to Theta (4-7.5Hz) – The Light Meditation And Sleeping Wave then Delta (0.5-4Hz) – The Deep Sleep Wave and back to Alpha on wake up.

Alpha brain waves are present in deep relaxation and usually when the eyes are closed, when you’re slipping into a lovely daydream or during light meditation. It is an optimal time to program the mind for success and it also heightens your imagination, visualization, memory, learning and concentration. Theta brain waves are present during deep meditation and light sleep, including the all-important REM dream state. It is the realm of your subconsciousness and only experienced momentarily as you drift off to sleep from Alpha and wake from deep sleep (from Delta).

It is said that a sense of deep spiritual connection and unity with the universe can be experienced at Theta. When you experience this you will diminish the focus on your pain.

The Delta frequency is the slowest of the frequencies and is experienced in deep, dreamless sleep and in very deep, transcendental meditation where awareness is fully detached. Delta is the realm of your unconscious mind, and the gateway to the universal mind and the collective unconscious, where information received is otherwise unavailable at the conscious level.

APA reports – New Hope for the Damaged Brain

Brain plasticity — the ability of the brain to renew itself — is a hot research topic for good reason: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention predicts an epidemic of brain-related health problems as our society ages.

A major cause of such problems is stroke, the fourth leading cause of death in the United States and a major cause of long-term disability. In a groundbreaking effort to improve people's recovery after one of these devastating events, Georgetown University Medical Center has partnered with MedStar National Rehabilitation Hospital in Washington, D.C., to create the Center for Brain Plasticity and Recovery, which will apply new thinking and state-of-the-art research methods to improve recovery from stroke and, in the future, from other neurological disorders as well.

Stroke recovery is a complex process that involves the reduction of injury and the repair of damaged circuits, as well as the restoration or retraining of impaired physical, sensory and cognitive processes.

An area of investigation at the National Rehabilitation Hospital that is in "critical periods" — windows of time where the brain shows more plasticity than others. In the case of stroke, the literature suggests there is a short period of time after the event where the brain tries to repair itself through processes such as sprouting new synaptic connections.
